The Hunt for a Cheap Microphone - The Apex 880 is here!

Inexpensive mics are often really cheap mics - they are not built good, they do not sound good and they do not last very long.

The Apex 880 is an inexpensive microphone that actually sounds and feels like it should cost much more. These mics do have an on/off switch, which I am not super happy about, but they have an excellent feel and weigh quite a bit. They also have a really nice sound.

It is a great age for microphones, and there are a lot of hand held mics that deliver the same performance to the standard, the Shure SM-58. The Apex 880 comes very close to that standard, and is suitable for almost any stage application, including voice, miking guitar amps and snare drums or more.

They are not suitable for bass cabinets, kick drums or other bass heavy applications.

These mics are a great addition to any line-up, and if you need an economical mic that actually sounds good the Apex 880 is hard to beat - come by Gaston Music & Pawn to check out these economical mics, great for an extra back-up mic or if you just need a mic and don't have a lot of money to spend!

A Flashlight for the Spring Season - The Nebo Slyde

There is nothing like a good flashlight - I have bought plenty of both, but one I was happy to get in our store to sell is a nice model. Nebo has been with the Alliance Sports Group for ten years, and it has been a productive union.

Thew Slyde is an LED flashlight with 250 lumens in the main light, and 190 lumens in the built in worklight. The light takes 4 AAA batteries - it is no problem finding power for this thing, and a set of rechargable AAA's would be a perfect match. The flashlight mode stays lit for 2 hours, the work light mode provides light for about 3.5 hours.

These are heavy lights - with batteries, they come in at 300 grams, or a little over half a pound, and they have a good solid feel, especially the push button to turn the light off and on and the slide function which reveals the worklight.

The magnetic base is NOT a weak magnet, this thing grips very strongly. It would be nice if the light was dimmable, but that function is not available on this model.

250 Lumens is bright - you do not want to shine this light in your eyes, but it cuts through the darkness very effectively with a measured range of 220 meters, or 18 meters for the work light. It is still quite bright but a much more diffuse beam. These two different lights make this a great addition to your normal fishing equipment and camping equipment.

The magnet at the base of the Slyde is more than strong enough

The light is water resistant, with good rubber seals and dual screw caps that protect the battery compartment.

These sweet little flashlights are available now at Gaston Music & Pawn!
